Kavach 2023

Amrita BTech Team Emerges as Runners-Up in “Kavach 2023” Hackathon! Sahithya Kattamuri , Abhijith CB, Satya Sai N, and Manoj S from Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with Archit Kak and Manohar Pagilla from Amrita School of Computing, formed a dynamic team that participated in the competition. Their expertise and determination were put to the test in the highly competitive “Detection of LoRa” category.

  • The team also retained the top spot in the Battle Underground CTF organized at NullCon security conference, Goa for the second consecutive year.

  • Encrypt CTF – organized by Delhi University – 2nd Rank worldwide, 1st rank in India.

  • In HackLu CTF’18, the team secured a whopping rank 1 on the onsite CTF, held at Luxembourg.
  • TeamShakti – the all-girls team from bi0s secured 1st position in Winja CTF (women only CTF) in the same conference and were awarded fully sponsored training by SANS worth USD 15000.
  • The team Arjun S, Binil Baby and Naveen Joseph of BCA 2013-2016 batch students took initiative to develop A-CAPS (Amrita Car-Pooling System), as part of their project . Also they have started a company, zealmotion which provides the services to develop digital Apps.

Technical Achievements
  • Manohar participated the “Fiercest Competitor 2.0” hackathon, hosted by the prestigious company PwC. The team was given a cash prize of 45,000.
  • Advaith A J , Student of B.Tech CSE AIE 2020 – 2024 batch was awarded a medallion of excellence in the Trade of Web Technologies in WorldSkills International Special Edition 2022 while representing India. He won the gold medal in Asia Pacific Marathon conducted by the Khabrovask government and Eurasia skills 2022, a bronze medal in the BRICS competition, and Asia skills 2022 all while representing India for Web Technologies.
  • Abinand N of 2015-2019 CSE won a Prize money of $500 in Fedora Users and Developers Conference from Google held in October.

  • Sayooj Samuel won the bronze medal at the Seventh International Olympiad in Cryptography, NSUCRYPTO 2020. This event is organised each year by the Novosibirsk State University, in association with Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, KU Leuven, Belarusian State University and Tomsk State University. The olympiad contains theoretical problems at the intersection of Math and modern cryptography. He managed to solve 5 out of 7 questions to score 20 points in the individual round in the University category. The olympiad which ran for a duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes, had questions on number theory, discrete mathematics, applied cryptography and vulnerability assessment, structures of cryptographic primitives among other challenging topics.

IIJ Innovation Institute (IIJ-II) Research Laboratory conducts advanced research and technology development on the Internet. He will be working on the building a framework to deploy containerisation tools directly on top of MacOS and he will be working on the performance evaluation on userspace network stack to research more about the bottlenecks exist in those implementations under the guidance of prof.   • Sayooj Samuel won the bronze medal at the Seventh International Olympiad in Cryptography, NSUCRYPTO 2020. This event is organised each year by the Novosibirsk State University, in association with Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, KU Leuven, Belarusian State University and Tomsk State University. The olympiad contains theoretical problems at the intersection of Math and modern cryptography. He managed to solve 5 out of 7 questions to score 20 points in the individual round in the University category. The olympiad which ran for a duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes, had questions on number theory, discrete mathematics, applied cryptography and vulnerability assessment, structures of cryptographic primitives among other challenging topics.

  • Aniketh Girish of S6 CSE has been invited (fully funded) for giving a talk titled ‘Inside DNS over HTTPS workflow’ at FOSDEM 2019 at Brussels, Belgium. FOSDEM is a free event for software developers to meet, share ideas and collaborate. Every year, thousands of developers of free and open source software from all over the world gather at this event to share their ideas.
  • Aswin Shenoy of S2 CSE has successfully completed two months paid internship at a Bangalore based startup called GMetri in January 2019. Aswin developed a tool which does the analytics panel for the clients. Aswin got selected through a hackathon. He is the first, first semester student to get an internship
  • Viswaak Chandran of S2 CSE has secured 1st position in Web Development Competition as part of Kriya, Techfest of PSG University on Web Development in January 2019
  • Gayathri of S6 CSE got selected for Amazon Campus Mentorship scheme (ACMS) in January 2019. Amazon hosted an online problem-solving contest, MCQs (from OS, Networks, and Database) and quantitative analysis. Total of 50 girls was selected for this program from colleges across Kerala and Chennai.
  • Vibhoothi of S6 CSE got invited (fully funded) for giving a talk at Libre Graphics Meeting 2019 at Saarbrucken, Germany on “VLC macOS Interface Redesign” in February 2019. The Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM) is an annual international convention for the discussion of free and open source software used with graphics which comprises with series of talks by leading Open-Source Software Developers. The first Libre Graphics Meeting was held in March 2006.
  • Gopa Vasanth of S4 CSE has been selected (fully funded) for MediaWiki Hackathon in May 2019 at Prague, Czech Republic. MediaWiki Hackathon is one of the biggest and largest hackathons held every year where all leading developers around the globe attend. 1000+ people (professionals and students) applys and less than 12 people gets selected.
  • Yash Khare of S2 CSE have successfully completed FOSSASIA Code Heat 2019 contest and won a fully sponsored trip FOSSASIA Summit 2019 which is happening at Singapore . FOSSASIA is the biggest Premier Developer Summit of open source developers which is happening in Asia every year.
  • Yash Khare of S2 CSE have been selected as GitHub Campus Experts which is a program where they will be training from GitHub Core Developers where they will be taught to do public speaking, technical writing, community leadership, and software development skills for the students of campus and themselves.

  • Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on introducing students to opensourcesoftware development. Abhijith,Akhil,Anand,Ashwin,Krishnan,Rammanoj,Gopa Vasanth, and Manikishan got selected for the prestigious GSOC 19.
  • Aniketh Girish of S6 CSE has been selected as a Summer Intern as a Research assistant 2019 in IIJ Research Institute, Japan. IIJ Innovation Institute (IIJ-II) Research Laboratory conducts advanced research and technology development on the Internet. He will be working on the building a framework to deploy containerisation tools directly on top of MacOS and he will be working on the performance evaluation on userspace network stack to research more about the bottlenecks exist in those implementations under the guidance of prof. Hajime TAZAKI.
  • Abhilash G of S6 CSE has been selected as a Mentor for Google Summer of Code 2019 (GSoC) at Mifos Initiative, which is a non-profit open source organisation dedicated to eliminating poverty globally.
