The United Nations has officially made Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham India’s first-ever UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment. The official bestowing of the UNESCO Chair took place before an audience of 8,000 people during a spiritual programme of the University’s Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Paris on October 30, 2016.
A workshop on ‘Broadcast Media in India – Program Production and Management’ was organized by the department of Visual Communication of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, on October 26, 2016. Dr. Niranjan Vanalli, Professor, Writer and Freelance Journalist, Registrar, Music University, Mysore, was the resource person of the session.

On 7th October, 2016, a talk on IoT was conducted by Dr. Veena M. N., Associate Professor, PES College of Engineering, Mandya. During the session, she had observed the IoT (Internet of Things) to be the physical world itself which had become a type of information system.
