Amrita’s 6th Campus Inaugurated at Chennai

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham opened its 6th campus at Chennai on July 29, 2019.  As of now, the new campus hosts a School of Engineering offering undergraduate engineering (B.Tech.) programs in Computer Science, Civil, Electronics & Communications, Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical.

Amrita Canteen Went Plastic-Free A Year Ago

Dr. S. Mahadevan, Deputy Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, said, ''In our canteen, even before this initiative was announced by the state government, we decided to go plastic-free — almost a year ago, in fact. We are using only steel glasses, plates and spoons. Even during the recently held three-day international conference, we had zero plastic usage."
 

Amrita Campus Say No to Plastic

Following the directive from the state government to completely ban single-use plastics from January 2019, many colleges have already taken steps and some are in the process of finding ways to totally banish plastic from the campus, and also advising students to say no to plastic outside the college as well. Dr. S. ​Amrita’s ₹2,500 Crore New Campus to Come up at Amaravati in Andhra

The foundation stone for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s 200-acre campus at Amaravati, was laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri. N Chandrababu Naidu on 7th February 2018. Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on this occassion said, “Amma says education should enrich students both internally and externally. Collecting information from the world, books, and instructors is only a part of it. For real education to happen, the student’s heart must open up. This cannot be gained by merely increasing one’s intellectual capacity. Nurturing this is the ultimate goal of Amrita.”

Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Honourable Chief Minister (CM) of Andhra Pradesh and Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, jointly laid the foundation stone of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amaravati campus, on February 7, 2018.
