Bio

Dr. S. Kanagaraj currently serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Deemed to be University), Coimbatore campus. He has an overall work experience of 12-1/2 years after completing master’s in social work, while simultaneously pursuing higher studies and research. He has qualified in UGC – NET and SET (State Eligibility Test) in Social Work. He has a rich field experience and a strong network with stakeholders at the grass-root level for effective interventions in a community. His major achievements include sustainable livelihood creations for disabled, formation of youth groups in tribal villages and conducting awareness programs in the community on societal and economic issues. He was also instrumental in formulating field projects in rural areas and guiding post-graduate social work students for open setting fieldwork.

He has a few publications in journals and conference proceedings.

He has taught courses on Foundations of Social Work, Working with Communities, Rural and Tribal Community Development, Technological Intervention for Community Development for the Post-Graduate Social Work students. His doctoral dissertation was on Social Mobilization and Women Empowerment within Urban SHGs in Coimbatore City, Tamil Nadu, India.

He has organized and participated in several Faculty Development Programs, Workshops and conferences

He taught Foundations of Social Work, to the Post Graduate Social Work students. He has also cleared He also completed Post Graduate Diploma in Geospatial Applications in Rural Development (PGDGARD) from NIRDPR, Hyderabad. He completed Ph.D in Social Work on Women Empowerment in Urban areas.
