The Amrita School of Nanosciences & Molecular Medicine (ASNSMM), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, extended a warm welcome to its newly admitted students of B.Sc., M.Sc., and M.Tech. programs through the Swagatham 2025 induction ceremony. The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey into the realms of cutting-edge science, innovation, and holistic development.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a soulful puja and benedictory address by Swami Purnamritananda Puri, General Secretary of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The gathering was then welcomed by Prof. Shantikumar V. Nair, Associate Provost – Academics, who spoke on Amrita’s commitment to excellence in research and interdisciplinary education.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Guhan Jayaraman, Head, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras. In his talk, Prof. Jayaraman emphasized the importance of curiosity-driven research, innovation with purpose, and staying rooted in values while embracing scientific progress.
Adding a global perspective to the event, Dr. Gaurav Baranwal, an alumnus of ASNSMM and currently Assistant Professor at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, USA, shared his personal journey and insights into international research culture, encouraging students to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.
The afternoon sessions introduced students to ASNSMM’s dynamic academic and research ecosystem. Presentations covered curriculum structure, placement opportunities, student support systems, and campus safety protocols—setting the tone for a nurturing and goal-oriented academic environment.
