The Amrita School of Business (ASB), Coimbatore, in collaboration with the Project Management Institute (PMI) Chennai Chapter, inaugurated the first-ever PMI Student Club in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in project management education and industry–academia collaboration.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guests Mr. Anand Muthuswamy (MD, Dean Textiles Buying Service & Chairman – Branding & Sustainability Committee, TEA) and Mr. R. Sabhari Girish (Head of Sustainability, Sulochana Mills), who spoke on sustainability as a key driver of innovation, competitiveness, and social responsibility.
Dr. Nava Subramaniam, Dean, ASB, and Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, highlighted the importance of embedding global project management practices into academics. “The new PMI–ASB Student Club will give our students real-world opportunities, help them build leadership skills, and connect them to global networks — reinforcing ASB’s role as a frontrunner in management education in Tamil Nadu,” said Dr. Subramaniam.
From the PMI Chennai Chapter, Dr. Parvez Alam M (Past President) highlighted project management as a catalyst for innovation, while Mr. Vijay Narayanan (President) officially launched the Student Club and encouraged leadership development. Mr. Madhan Ram A. Arumugam (Secretary) emphasized the relevance of entrepreneurship, resilience, and innovation, and Dr. B. Shyam Sundar (Vice President – Outreach) underlined the importance of industry–academia collaboration while announcing the newly elected office bearers.
