Amrita CWEGE Internship Strengthens Entrepreneurship Skills of Women’s Stitching Group in Kerala

The Women’s Empowerment Project at the Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality (CWEGE) continues to nurture entrepreneurship among women by linking them with global markets and harnessing the energy of talented youth worldwide.

This summer, Keshav Krishna, an intern from Diablo Valley College (USA), collaborated with the Kattilkadavu women’s stitching group in Kerala. Under the guidance of the WE Store team, his efforts focused on strengthening both business skills and market access for the women.

During his internship, Keshav:

  • Explored microfinance options and GST registration to enhance financial inclusion.
  • Conducted hands-on sessions to map income flows and identify growth opportunities.
  • Developed a go-to-market strategy and detailed case study for the group.
  • Researched new products with strong global demand and identified nearby sales outlets.
  • Designed a printable display card and documented their assembly line process.
  • Facilitated role-play sessions on buyer-seller interactions to build confidence in pitching.

These interactive engagements not only enhanced the women’s entrepreneurial capabilities but also helped them showcase the beauty and craftsmanship of their handmade bags.

The project highlights how collaboration, mentorship, and creativity can empower women to scale their businesses and connect with wider markets.
