Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Oman’s UTAS Sign MoU to Strengthen Research and Academic Collaboration

University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Sultanate of Oman, and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, academic exchange, and technology development.

The agreement was signed during the visit of a high-level delegation from UTAS led by Dr. Saeed bin Hamad bin Saeed Al-Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of UTAS, Oman. The delegation was received by Dr. Maneesha V Ramesh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation & Development.

Discussions between the two institutions focused on joint research initiatives, funded projects, faculty and student mobility, and specialized curriculum development in engineering, technology, and applied sciences.

“Our visit to Amrita University has been deeply inspiring. The vision of Mata Amritanandamayi—where education, research, and compassion seamlessly converge—stands as a powerful model for the world. Amrita’s commitment to blending technological excellence with humanitarian values reflects a higher purpose in education, one that UTAS truly resonates with,” said Dr. Saeed bin Hamad bin Saeed Al-Rubaie, Vice Chancellor, UTAS Oman and Head of Delegation.

The MoU establishes a five-year framework for collaboration that includes joint research publications, faculty exchange, and semester-abroad opportunities for students. Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership would create meaningful opportunities in academics, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable technology development.

During the visit, the UTAS delegation toured the Coimbatore and Amritapuri campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and visited several advanced research facilities, including the Landslide Lab, Flexible Electronics Lab, AMMACHI Labs, Biotechnology Labs, Aerospace Engineering Research Labs, Robotics & ARVR Lab, and the Amrita Automotive Technology Center. The delegation also visited research facilities at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), including Nano Research Labs and Nuclear Medicine facilities.
