Deeksharambh 2026, the Batch Inauguration Ceremony for the newly admitted B.Sc. Nursing students, was held on 12 August 2026 at the Amriteshwari Auditorium, Amrita College of Nursing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Delhi NCR Campus. “Deeksharambh,” meaning the “commencement of a sacred pursuit of knowledge,” aptly captured the spirit of the occasion, which formally welcomed the incoming batch of 250 students into the nursing profession and into the academic community of the Amrita College of Nursing.
The event was meticulously organised and flawlessly executed, reflecting the collective effort of the faculty, administration, senior students, and the Student Council. Objectives of the Event
The event commenced on a traditional note, with the batch of 250 new students being warmly received by the senior batch and members of the Student Council, who welcomed them with the customary application of tilak — a gesture symbolizing blessings, respect, and the beginning of a new and auspicious journey. This warm reception set a positive and welcoming tone for the proceedings that followed.
The formal proceedings were inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the guests and dignitaries present on the occasion. The lamp lighting, a symbol of the illumination of knowledge, marked the official commencement of the Batch Inauguration ceremony.
Prof. Libin Joseph, the Batch Coordinator for the 2026 batch, delivered the Welcome Address, formally welcoming the new students, their aspirations, and their families into the institution’s fold. His address set the stage for the sessions that followed, extending a warm welcome on behalf of the School of Nursing.
Swami Nijamritananda Puri, the Administrative Director, Amrita Faridabad, addressed the gathering with a thoughtful and inspiring speech. He emphasized the quality of education imparted at the institution and highlighted how this education is deeply ingrained in the core values upheld by the institution. His address underscored the importance of value-based learning as a foundation for the students’ professional and personal growth.
Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, the Medical Administrator, spoke on the growing importance of competent nurses in the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. He elaborated on the pivotal role that new-era nurses play in shaping and strengthening the healthcare sector, urging the students to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.
The Principal of the School of Medicine, Dr Tapan Kumar Saha also addressed and motivated the students, emphasizing the importance of deep and thorough learning across all aspects of competency development. The address encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with sincerity and dedication from the very outset of their nursing education.
Principal Dr. Lekha Viswanath addressed the gathering with particular emphasis on the Vision, Mission, and Core Competencies that will be accorded greater importance in the nursing education imparted at the institution. She elaborated on the institution’s ongoing endeavour to nurture and shape global nurses, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values required to excel on both national and international platforms.
Ms. Rakhi Yadav, a final year B.Sc. Nursing student, shared a heartfelt testimonial recounting her academic journey at the institution. Her candid and reflective sharing proved to be an eye-opener for the new batch, offering valuable insight into the overall development — academic, personal, and professional — that awaits them during their course of study.
Mr. Ananthkrishnan, another final year B.Sc. Nursing student, shared his personal experiences of campus life. He spoke about hostel rules and regulations and offered practical guidance to the new students on how to make the most of their time on campus, both academically and personally.
Swami Harshamrita Chaitanya, who heads Student Welfare, addressed the students and motivated them to make the most of every opportunity available to them, both within the campus and beyond, for their holistic and overall development.
A presentation on the Student Council was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Kamini Chauhan, Associate Professor. The presentation was led by Mr. Kasinath R and Ms. Aleena Manoj, the institution’s first Student Council members, who introduced the new batch to the structure, roles, and responsibilities of the Student Council, along with the opportunities it offers for student leadership and engagement. This was followed by a presentation delivered by the former House Captains, who shared insights into the various house activities conducted through the year and highlighted the achievements of their respective houses. The session gave the new students a glimpse into the co-curricular and competitive spirit fostered within the institution’s house system.
Interspersed through the event were sessions of faculty and student introductions, conducted in small groups of 20–25 students each. These interactive sessions were both fun and engaging, allowing the new students to become better acquainted with their faculty members and fellow batchmates in a relaxed and informal setting.
Dr. Lakshmi Nair conducted an insightful session on Health and Wellness, wherein she spoke about the importance of living life to the fullest across physical, mental, and social dimensions in order to attain maximum effective living — a message that resonated strongly with the new students as they embark on a demanding academic journey.
