Her Excellency Ms. Dana Kursh, Consul General of Israel to South India (Bengaluru), has inaugurated “Women in Sustaining the Environment” (WISE), a new collaborative research project between Amrita and Tel Aviv University on February 11, 2019 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus.

Amrita MSW Students Perform Street Play on World Mental Health Day

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2018, Master of Social Work students from Amrita Center for Women's Empowerment & Gender Equality, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, staged a street play in front of the people gathered at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center and at the old age homes and public schools they visited during their internship with AIMS hospital, Kochi.

MSW 2018 New Batch of Students Inducted at Amritapuri Campus

On August 6, 2018, a new batch of students was inducted into the Amrita Master of Social Work program at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus. Offered by India’s only UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, the Amrita MSW is a two-year full-time residential program which offers world-class opportunities in the field of Social Work.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham India’s First-ever UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment

The United Nations has officially made Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham India’s first-ever UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment. The official bestowing of the UNESCO Chair took place before an audience of 8,000 people during a spiritual programme of the University's Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Paris on October 30, 2016.

More than 1,500 women from various parts of India poured into Amritapuri for the two-day event in early May - A Celebration of Empowerment. This was the capstone event of AMMACHI Labs’ Women Empowerment Project, co-funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The participants shared one thing in common: They were all graduates of AMMACHI Labs’ unique computerized vocational education and life enrichment education courses.
