Photo Exhibition and Film Show on Western Ghats Biodiversity

A Photo Exhibition on Western Ghats Biodiversity was conducted by ENVIS Centre in collaboration with Amrita Nature Club on February 14-16, 2020, as a part of ANOKHA Fest 2020 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.


Students of the sixth standard to eighth standard and teachers from Amrita Vidyalayam, Ettimadai, The Western Ghats International School, Ettimadai, several Amrita students and staff visited the Exhibition stall and got enlightened about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

The Exhibition was a huge success and the students were encouraged to develop a scientific passion and an attitude of conservation mindedness so that they develop the qualities of environment protection and sustainability.

Film Save our shola which covers the importance of Western Ghats biodiversity, threats to ecosystems and conservation strategy with peoples’ action was screened at ENVIS centre, Centre for Sustainable Future. Students and teachers from Amrita Vidyalayam, Ettimadai and The Western Ghats International School, Ettimadai participated in the program.

Dr. Maya Mahajan, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore and ENVIS Coordinator has given an introductory talk about biodiversity conservation and interacted with students after the film show wherein students showed their interest on biodiversity conservation.

The objective of the program was not only to inculcate a scientific attitude and research-mindedness to students but also to create Environment awareness. Such events create awareness on biodiversity conservation among school students, faculty and staffs of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and nearby schools, which was highly applauded by all.
