Ananta Sharma currently serves as Assistant Professor in Amrita Darshanam (International Centre for Spiritual Studies) in Bangalore campus. He obtained his M.A. in Advaita Vedanta from University of Madras, Chennai (The Madras Sanskrit College) with distinction in 2013. He is qualified in National Eligibility Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship at University Grants Commission, New Delhi. He has also completed tenālīparīkṣā (10 Exams as of 2016) in advaitavedānta at Sri Kanchi Veda Vedanta Shastra Sabha.
He has spent 16 years studying in a traditional Gurukulam system: at a traditional guruśiṣyaparamparā in Chennai from 2011 to 2013 studying advaitavedānta (prameya śāstram) and other accessory scriptures (pramāṇa śāstram), at Veda Vijnana Gurukulam in Bangalore from 2005 to 2011, and at Prabodhini Gurukulam from 1997 to 2003.
