Bio

Dr. Ashwini B. N., currently serves as Professor & Head of the Department of Shalakya Tantra, Amrita School of Ayurveda. She completed BAMS from Ashwini Ayurveda Medical College, Davangere in 2009 and Post Graduation from S.D.M. College of Ayurveda, Hassan in 2012. She worked in Sri Jagadguru Gavisiddeshwara Ayurveda College, Koppal, Karnataka, as Assistant Professor in the Department of Shalakaya Tantra for 2 years. Carried out CCRAS Research Project in collaboration with AYUSH as part of dissertation in 2010- 2012. She has delivered guest lectures at various colleges and conducted hands-on training on Shalakya kriya kalpas at different institutions. Dr. Ashwini has attended the workshop on Fundamentals of Biostatistics, Principles of Epidemiology and SPSS – June 2019 conducted at CMC, Vellore. Authored a book ‘Kairali’ comprising the translation from Malayalam Keraleeya Ayurveda formulations to English. She had presented many papers in International & National Conferences.

I have expertise in the field of Ayurveda – Shalakya Tantra. I have enough background in clinical research, with specific training and expertise in the management of Anterior Segment disorder and Retinal Pathology with Ayurveda – Indian Traditional medicine. My previous researches include various aspects of Ayurveda especially in the field of Shalakya. Presently I am working in Doctoral research work on Post menopausal Dry eye by Ayurveda Management. In addition, I successfully published papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Contributions to Science 

Conducted a Shalakya workshop on kriya kalpa procedures and instruments demonstration for 3 days called Nayanamritam. Conducted kriya kalpa Hands on training program for the BAMS students and House Surgeons in various institutions. Published a Book ‘Kairali Shalakya Formulation’ translation of Malayalam Shalakya yoga’s into English by Chaukhambha publication in 2019. Published a chapter in book ‘Research in Ayurveda: Perspectives & Trends 2021’ under Theme XII- SHALAKYA TANTHRA in 2021, ISBN 978-81-948175-6-7. Published a book ‘Handbook on Nasa Rogas’ by Chaukhambha publication in 2024.
