Amrita Ayurveda Research Director Participates in 18th International Ayurveda Symposium at Birstein, Germany

Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director, Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda, participated in three sessions on the final day of the 18th International Ayurveda Symposium, at European Akademie for Ayurveda, Birstein, Germany. The first was a panel discussion on Āma or metabolic byproducts and this session was moderated by Kerstin Rosenberg and other panelists were Dr. S. N. Gupta and Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari.

He further participated in the Research Satellite Session and talked about Coherence in Basic Research on Ayurveda after Christian Kessler from Charite Medical University shared the outcomes of a path breaking study on efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment in Osteoarthritis that was funded by Ministry of AYUSH. The session was moderated by Prof. Martin Mittwede.

Dr. Manohar also delivered a talk during the session on Science and Spirituality during 18th International Ayurveda Symposium. The talk was titled, “The Blending of Science and Spirituality in the Tradition of Ayurveda”. Prof. Dr. Med. Dipl. Psychol. Rolf Verres spoke on “Spirituality and religion in the context of holistic medicine” and Prof. Dr. S.K. Mishra spoke on “The relevance of Ayurveda and its spiritual components for the society”. Prof. Martin Mittwede moderated the session.

Dr. Ram Manohar also interacted with the delegation from Ministry of AYUSH led by Sri. Anurag Srivastav, Joint Secretary and Dr. Raghu, Deputy Director.
