Dr. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman – Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus virtually chaired a session for a NAAC-sponsored conference on “Healthcare Research India in India: A SWOC Analysis” organized by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Puducherry on January 22, 2023. This session saw a presentation on “Research in India: From a Global Perspective” by Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and CEO, QS I-GAUGE rankings followed by detailed discussions. During the session, Dr. Prashant R. Nair pointed out the menace of predatory journals plaguing research in India. The deliberations pointed out the need for universities to enforce policies against publishing in such paid journals by their faculty and students. Prof. A. R. Srinivasan, Registrar, SBV co-chaired the session. This conference was organized as part of the 2nd International Health and Research Convention 2023 organized by SBV from 20 to 22 January, 2023 and inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, Shri N. Rangasamy on January 20, 2023.
