Amrita Student Wins First Place in Cambridge ESOL Competition

Shilpa Dinesh Nair, a third year ECE student at the Amrita School of Engineering in Coimbatore was selected as the Best Speaker of Business English at a National Level ESOL Competition organized by the Cambridge University in association with the British Council of India.

Students from over 50 colleges in the country were invited to participate in the final round held in Chennai. Jeetu BabuThey were each asked to give a short presentation on how to promote India as a tourist destination. Among all 24 students finally short-listed, Shilpa of Amrita bagged the top honors.

Shilpa will now attend the Asia Region International Finals in Singapore in February 2009. As the Indian national level winner, she is also eligible for a fully sponsored one- week finance course at the London Metropolitan University, supported by the London Mayor’s office.
