Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham partnered with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan for the International Conference “Vision 2047: Prosperous and Great Bharat 2.0” held from 24–26 April 2026.

Organised by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, the conference brought together researchers, policymakers, academicians, and industry leaders from across the country to deliberate on India’s long-term development priorities. Discussions focused on economic growth, technological leadership, sustainability, employment generation, and policy innovation aligned with the national vision for 2047.

During the Industry–Academia Conclave held on 26 April, Dr. Bhavani Rao R., Dean of the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences and UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, delivered an address highlighting the importance of reimagining industry–academia partnerships beyond transactional collaborations.

Meaningful collaborations are built through co-creation, mentorship, shared responsibility, and innovation that directly responds to societal needs.

Dr. Rao emphasized the need for building trust beyond Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), fostering compassion in people-centred innovation, and encouraging mutual respect between academic and industry knowledge systems. Her address underscored the importance of inclusive, ethical, and self-reliant development as India advances toward the Vision 2047 agenda.

The conference also reinforced the growing collaboration between Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences in areas such as Data Science for Policy, Women in STEM, and the social implications of emerging technologies.
