Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham emerged as the overall champions in the junior and senior category by winning 12 gold and 4 silver medals in the district powerlifting competition held at Paravur in Kollam.

Aryashree Bhushan Kishan, Tarun, Raja Guru, Darsha Muraleedharan, Mohammed Hassan Ali, Abhinav, Roshan, Parth, Sai and Prathvi have won medals in individual categories. Bijeesh Chira and Vivek Vavachan, sports teachers at the Amritapuri campus, are the coaches.

Darsh Muralitharan lifted 617.5kg in the 93kg category to win gold in the junior and senior category and set a record in the junior category. He is a first year MBA student of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
