Details of the Event:

About the Event & Objective:

The Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme 2026 was organised by the ManoLayam Centre for Wellbeing in accordance with the UGC Anti-Ragging Week initiative. The programme aimed to create awareness about the impact of ragging, promote respectful peer relationships, and encourage students to foster a safe, inclusive and supportive campus environment.

Event Details:

The programme featured a Slogan Writing Competition – “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” and a Debate Competition – “Ragging: Tradition, Entertainment, or Abuse of Power?”. The debate saw six students participate in two teams, presenting perspectives for and against the topic. Three panelists judged the debate based on the students’ arguments, engagement and presentation.

Outcome:

Students actively participated in both activities and demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity and thoughtful engagement. The debate encouraged students to critically examine different perspectives on ragging, while the slogan-writing activity reinforced messages of kindness, respect and responsible peer interaction.

Testimonials:

Participants appreciated the engaging and interactive format of the programme and expressed enthusiasm about being part of similar initiatives in the future. The audience particularly enjoyed the lively exchange of perspectives during the debate, with students presenting their arguments confidently and engagingly. Overall, the programme received positive feedback from the participants.
