Campus placement for students at the Amrita School of Business began on September 7, 2010 when Khimji Ramdas, a leading conglomerate based in Oman, recruited four second-year MBA students.
Rahul K. Ajay from Amritapuri, Siddarth Menon and Vikas Kumar from Bengaluru and Lakshmanan H. from Kochi received offers for full-time employment as Section Sales Officers at Procter & Gamble (P&G), one among the consumer products divisions handled by Khimji Ramdas.
Each recruit was offered a salary package of over Rs. 10 lakh per annum plus gratuity.
Established in 1870, with interests in trading, distribution, retailing and manufacturing, Khimji Ramdas has an annual turnover of over $ 500 million. The company has 38 divisions and nearly 3300 employees.
What brought the company to recruit at Amrita?
“We had heard very positive reports about Amrita graduates who are employed with some of our business partners,” stated a delegate who represented Khimji Ramdas.
“Now having met your students, we can say that we are extremely satisfied with our decision to recruit here. We are impressed with the knowledge of the students about the areas of marketing and sales.”
The Centre for Corporate and International Relations (CIR) at Coimbatore campus coordinated the placement process. Students were provided specialized training on verbal and communication skills, logical reasoning, quantitative techniques and organization-focused aptitude training.
About sixty-four students from the Amrita School of Business, from all four campuses, had converged at the Coimbatore campus, for this company placement. On the first day, students took a written test, followed by interviews and group discussions on the second day.
Also, during this time students interacted with the financial company, Numura, which will publish its placement results around the end of October.
Placement season will continue as more and more companies are invited to recruit at Amrita.
Lakshmanan H. from Amrita School of Business, Kochi remarked, “Placement training provided by the CIR team has helped significantly during the entire process of aptitude testing, group discussion and personal interview.”
“Let us wish them all the best,” stated Mr. Srikant Payal, Head, Corporate Relations and Placements, Amrita Schools of Business. “Our students will help qualitatively transform our economy, providing a boost to the country’s growth.”
