Center for Cybersecurity Organizes Seminar on Lie Detection in Social Media

Amrita Center for Cybersecurity Systems and Networks organized a seminar on Lie Detection in SocialMedia on September 17, 2014 by Dr. Rajarathnam Chandramouli.

Dr. Chandramouli is the Hattrick Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Schaefer School of Engineering & Science, Stevens Institute of Technology. His research interests focus on cognitive radio networks, wireless security, steganography, steganalysis and computational biology.

His talk on Lie Detection in Social Media mainly focused on his development of veracity software which is capable of detecting lies in a textual transcript of what someone has said with an alleged accuracy of 86%- 99%. He explained in detail how the lie detection is carried out using the probabilistic approach.

Dr. Chandramouli’s talk also included the detection of which gender created a document and research on Psycholinguistics. He shared ideas as well on how named entity recognition could be used for cyber security applications.
