DST STI Hub Delivers Training on Health and Nutrition to Anganwadi Workers in Mizoram

As part of the DST STI Hub project, Anganwadi workers underwent a two-day training program focused on health and nutrition in February 2024. The program was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Mizoram.

The participants expressed their enthusiasm about applying their newfound knowledge at their centers and homes. In the video, Juliet Vanlalnunhlimi talks about her experience being selected to be a part of the Master Trainer program, which helped her gain knowledge and information about the benefits of incorporating fruits and vegetables for health.

Another participant, Lallianzeli Bawngkwan, says that her center has reaped the benefits of her attending the session since it has created awareness and led to improved food consumption. Barbie Vanlalruati said that she learned strategies to prevent anemia and that suitable dietary choices were greatly helpful.

Lalzawmpuii shared that, until attending the session, she was unaware of the importance of eating at regular intervals and the appropriate quantity of food. The imparted information, she added, was particularly accurate and easy to understand, making it suitable for both mothers and children.

The STI Hub project aims to combat malnutrition and anaemia amongst kids, adolescents and pregnant/lactating women in Mizoram, by empowering the frontline Anganwadi workers with enhanced knowledge and techniques.
