Non-Verbal Communication – A Seminar by Martha Miller, Ph.D

On June 6, 2022, Martha Miller, PhD conducted an engaging seminar for Amrita students and staff on Nonviolent Communication. Differences in cultures’ unconscious norms for nonverbal communication strongly impact rapport between individuals. Her seminar focused on key communication channels and their effects.

In a cultural context, non-verbal communication involves the use of various non-verbal cues, such as body language, facial expressions, and gestures, to convey messages and meaning. These non-verbal cues may differ across cultures, but they can often be more revealing of a person’s emotions, attitudes, and intentions than their verbal communication.

Martha Miller, Ph.D is the Faculty Director at the UCLA Anderson Women’s Leadership Institute. The seminar was organized by the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
