An online webinar on Health Technology was held on October 26, 2023 at Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi. The speaker was Dr. Jagdeesh K., Health Policy Analyst, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The presentation was mainly centered around three core subjects, health technology assessment in India (HTAIn), pharmaco-economics and career opportunities in ICMR (Indian Council for Medical Research). He spoke to the students about the process of researching medications and medical equipments to determine which ones can benefit the public, as well as how new policies are formulated with the great majority’s financial situation in mind to improve healthcare for the public. In the end, he had also briefed upon the various posts that ICMR offer and their respective salary packages and encouraged the students to opt for jobs that are of use to the public and not just with a money-making mindset. The students of B.Pharm third year, Pharm.D fourth year and M.Pharm Pharmacy Practice first and second-year attended the program.
