The School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, hosted a two-day Agentic AI Workshop and 24-Hour Hackathon on July 17–18, in collaboration with WeKan and Nitrostack. The event attracted an overwhelming response from students across the Schools of Computing, Engineering, and Physical Sciences, making it one of the largest AI-focused student innovation events held on campus.
A total of 441 teams comprising 1,764 students registered for the event. Following the selection process, 205 teams (820 students) participated in the hackathon, with 168 teams (672 students) submitting innovative AI solutions across six competition tracks. The top three teams in each track were awarded cash prizes of ₹24,000, ₹16,000, and ₹8,000, sponsored by Nitrostack, along with millions of AI platform tokens to support further development of their projects. In all, 18 teams (72 students) emerged as winners.
The event began with an inaugural session graced by Br. Vishwanathamrita Chaitanya, who shared his insights on innovation, technology, and service. The organisers expressed gratitude to Swami Devidasa Chaitanya for his guidance and continuous support in making the programme possible. Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Dean, School of Computing, and Ms. Bindu G. S. also extended their support throughout the event.
The workshop featured a keynote address by Dr. Vivek Menon (RH), followed by intensive hands-on sessions conducted by the Nitrostack technical team on building Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and deploying scalable end-to-end AI applications using the Nitrostack platform. Participants then competed in a 24-hour hackathon, developing innovative Agentic AI applications addressing real-world challenges.
The evaluation process was led by a distinguished panel comprising Dr. Ani R., Mr. Ramesh Guntha, Dr. Gopakumar G., Dr. Simi S., Dr. Indulekha, and Dr. Lakshmi Mohandas, who assessed 168 project submissions within five hours. The quality and originality of the student projects received high appreciation from the Nitrostack leadership, who described the submissions as exceptional and praised the enthusiasm and technical capabilities of the participants.
The event was supported by a 35-member delegation from WeKan and Nitrostack, including Mr. Pablo (CEO), Mr. Suresh (Practice Head), Mr. Abhishek Pandit (Founder, Nitrostack), Mr. Dhaval (Director), Ms. Gayathri (HR), Mr. Sachin Deshpande, Mr. Ashwin, and Ms. Nandini, who mentored participants and conducted technical sessions throughout the programme.
The organisers also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Estate Office, Electrical Team, ICTS, AOC, Guest Relations, faculty members, staff, and student volunteers, whose coordinated efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event despite the unprecedented turnout.
The programme concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, where winners, volunteers, and organisers were recognised with prizes and mementoes. The successful completion of the workshop and hackathon further reinforces Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and next-generation AI talent through strong industry-academia collaboration.
