Bio

Dr. Anand Kumar completed his MBBS and MD in General Medicine from the Medical College, Trivandrum. He pursued post-doctoral training in Neurology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, an institute of national importance, and subsequently earned his DM in Neurology. Following this, he served as a faculty member at Trivandrum Medical College.

He has undergone specialized training in evoked potential studies in Chicago, USA, and in Transcranial Doppler in Sipplingen, Germany. In 1989, after a brief tenure at the Medical College, he joined the Ministry of Health in Sharjah as a Specialist Neurologist, where he established the Departments of Neurology at Al Qassimi and Kuwait Hospitals.

In 1999, he returned to India and joined the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, where he founded the Neurosciences Division. Under his leadership, the division has grown into a tertiary care referral center with six formally trained neurologists.

Dr. Anand Kumar has several publications to his credit. His areas of special interest include cognitive neurology, sleep medicine, intuitive mind development, yoga and meditation, the interface between neurology and art forms, and biomedical research. He has also contributed to the field of medical artificial intelligence as a member of a team that developed an expert system for epilepsy.
