Bio

Dr. Hemalatha is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Wireless Networks Applications, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri. She has been majorly involved in research works for forecasting imminent landslides ahead of time, social media analytics for natural hazard events detection, and decision support systems for monitoring and early warning of landslides. Her primary focus is arriving at thresholds for different sensors used in landslide forecasting, efficiently forecasting the possibility of imminent landslides and risk analysis. She is also into building automated systems with machine learning and forecasting technologies for real-time monitoring of environmental applications. Historical data analysis of natural disasters such as Landslides, Avalanches, Floods, and Droughts. Laboratory and numerical modelling of geotechnical and hydrological processes related to landslides. Her areas of interest also include Data Science, Machine learning, Computational Optimization, Disaster Risk Reduction, Multihazard modelling, etc.
