amDeC is a platform for student developers to get started with open source and hone their technical skills by working on real-world projects that interest them. In this six-week coding program, students work on selected open-source projects and receive mentorship over the period. The students are encouraged from all backgrounds, irrespective of their technical experience to participate and contribute to technical projects from diverse fields. This year, in the first version of amDeC, 5 projects were selected from a pool of projects that were submitted. With over 100 student registrations and an intensive selection process with the respective project mentors, 5 student proposals were selected for the coding phase of the program. The student developers are currently working on their projects with the final submission deadline being February 25, 2020. Students who pass the final evaluation along with mentors will be receiving exclusive amFOSS Swag and a certificate.
