It is a year that marks another increase in Amrita’s faculty in the prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists—from 29 to 37. The global ranking was created by researchers at Stanford University, in collaboration with Elsevier and SciTech Strategies.

This is the sixth year in a row Amrita’s scholars have been listed. Its recognition reaffirms the university’s sustained excellence in research, impact, and global leadership across diverse scientific disciplines.

Deepening the distinction, four of the faculty are also alumni of Amrita—Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Provost; Dr. Raghu Raman, Dean with the School of Business; Dr. Prema P. Nedungadi, Associate Dean, School of Computing; and Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering.

The ranking, developed through rigorous analysis of scientific research metrics such as the H-index, citations, and other performance indicators, honours scientists who have made significant contributions in their fields.

Two distinct categories are featured: career-long impact, recognising scientists for their lifetime achievements, and single-year impact, which focuses on the past year’s contributions.

The list is categorised as follows:

  • Career-long impact: Honouring lifetime achievements in research. From 230,333 scientists worldwide, 13 Amrita faculty were acknowledged.
  • Single-year impact: Recognising contributions made in 2024–25. From 236,313 scientists worldwide, 36 Amrita faculty were included.
  • Dual recognition: 12 faculty members achieved distinction in both categories, reflecting their sustained and ongoing contributions to global research.
