Amrita Students Win Prizes at 33rd Inter-University National Youth Festival 2018, Ranchi

The team from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham won a series of prizes in music competitions at the 33rd Inter-university National Youth Festival-2018, Palash, organized by Ranchi University in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, February 16-20, 2018. It aims at providing a platform for gifted youth to showcase their cultural talents in arts and creativity. 

Student winners at zonal competitions from five zones (North, South, East, West, and Central) participated in this national cultural event. The team from Amrita took part in South Zonal Competitions 2017, held at Hindustan University, Chennai, from 18th to 22nd December. Amrita bagged the overall championship in the music category. In total, Amrita secured five prizes. Nine students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham were qualified to represent South Zone to compete against the finest counterparts across the country in music and literary categories.

Our team successfully captivated the judges and audience with their dynamic and energy-filled performances. This year was the first time that Amrita team achieved a big success in music category at the national level. The team bagged four prizes in music category:

  • Mr. Abhimanyu S. Kamat, Final Year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, bagged second prize for Percussion Instrument;
  • Ms. Sai Jyothi, First Year, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, won second prize in Western Music-Solo.
  • The group of students from Amritapuri Campus, comprising of Ms. Theertha V, Second Year, Department of Chemistry; Ms. Veda P, Second Year, Department of Physics; Ms. Devika Pramod, Second Year, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Ms. Jyothisree K., First Year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Mr. Goutham Suresh, First Year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr. Aswin Sathish, Third Year, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering won third prize in Group Music Indian.
  • Mr. Raguram, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Coimbatore Campus, won third prize in Western Instrument Solo.
