Second Alumni Meet at Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru

Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru Campus organized the 2nd Annual Alumni Meet on 1st August, 2015. The program was graced by Associate Dean & Head, Dr. Rakesh S.G. and Ms. Supriya M., Chair of the Alumni Association, Bengaluru Chapter & Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru. The meet saw an attendance of around 40 Alumni. The event gathered the Chairmen and Heads of various Departments, faculty and staff members. 

The program began with lighting of the lamp followed by the prayer. A formal welcome address was given by Ms. Supriya M., Associate Dean.  Dr. Rakesh S.G. welcomed the Alumni and appreciated them for making themselves free to attend the meeting on that day though everyone are well connected through facebook, whatsapp, etc., in the present world. He also took the opportunity to invite the alumni community for the Meets, and other various activities that are held in the campus and lend a hand to the juniors/college in terms of technical knowledge/ funds.

Most of the alumni had discussions with the Chairmen and Placement officer during which the alumni came up with many suggestions regarding the syllabus of courses, laboratory development and placement opportunities. The Alumni were, in general, very appreciative about organizing such meets and also were willing to extend help in terms of conducting sensitization sessions for their juniors and arranging for invited talks by industry experts. Many of them also shared their experiences in the college when they were students. Discussions also continued during the high tea arranged for all the participants.

The Alumni Meet closed with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Pramod R., faculty from the Department of ME. A memento was presented to all the Alumni for their participation in the meet as a token of appreciation. The last part of the event was devoted to recreation with cultural activities. The current students of the School presented cultural events including dance and music for their seniors.

Mr. Buddha Puneeth who graduated with a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering in 2007-2011 batch, at present working in SAP Labs, agreed to sponsor the prize money of around Rs. 10000/- for the programming events/contests happening in the college. Mr. Trivikram Annamalai, who graduated with a BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2008-2012 batch, presently working in Samsung, shared that he would like to take part in the technical activities organized for juniors in the campus.  Everyone parted with a resolve to visit again and with a promise to make sure that there is more participation in the next Meet.
