Amrita CREATE Conducts ALP School Visit at Amrita Vidyalayam, Puthiyakavu
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), Amrita CREATE conducted a school visit at Amrita Vidyalayam, Puthiyakavu, on 2 September 2026. The visit focused on observing the classroom implementation of ALP, reviewing student participation, and understanding how the programme’s learning resources and activity-based approach are being integrated into regular classroom practice.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe students participating in the different learning centres of the ALP model. Classroom activities incorporated phonics, reading, speaking, and writing-related learning experiences, with students engaging with the programme’s structured resources. The visit also highlighted the importance of ensuring that each learning centre contributes meaningfully towards the intended learning outcomes.
A key aspect of the monitoring process was observing the flow of classroom activities. Effective classroom flow is particularly important in an activity-based programme, where students move through different learning experiences and require appropriate guidance and support. The observations also reinforced the importance of providing students with opportunities to practise phonics, reading and spoken English consistently.
Teachers play an important role in ensuring that the ALP methodology is implemented effectively. Their responsibilities include facilitating classroom activities, guiding students through the learning centres, supporting individual learning needs, maintaining learning resources and ensuring that student work is reviewed regularly. The visit also emphasised the importance of integrating resources such as the word wall and phonics activities into everyday learning.
Regular monitoring helps identify areas that require attention at an early stage. By observing classroom practices periodically, programme teams and schools can understand what is working effectively and where additional support or adjustments may be required. This creates a continuous cycle of observation, improvement and follow-up, helping classroom practices remain aligned with programme objectives.
The Puthiyakavu visit demonstrated the value of collaborative monitoring in strengthening the delivery of ALP. With continued attention to phonics, reading, writing, and spoken English, the programme aims to provide young learners with a strong foundation for English language development.
