Amrita Student Team Win the Scilab Toolbox Hackathon 2020

A student team from Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University), Coimbatore campus, has emerged as the champions of Scilab Toolbox Hackathon 2020. 700 student teams and startups participated in this hackathon organized by Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education (FOSSEE) center of excellence at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and supported by National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Amrita Professor Talks About the Need to Create More Effective Industry-Institution Ties

Prashant R. Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, spoke about the need to create more effective industry-institution ties and to convert more final year engineering projects into startups.

“We are circulating information on STIP-2020 (Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2020) among various circles and policy experts for inputs and feedback. The policy would impact both technical education and startup ecosystem. So we are trying to make it inclusive and tech-driven,” Prashant said, who is the Institute’s Campus Ambassador for STIP-2020.

Coders of Blaviken, a student team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus has ranked third in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020 software edition for a problem statement of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, India. The award winning product named as Jatayu - AI Based Criminal Detection System.
