The first-ever National Women’s Conference ‘Tejasvi’ was hosted at the HAL Management Academy, jointly organized by the Forum of Women in Public Sector–HAL and the HAL (B) Families Welfare Association. Centered on the theme “Women Who Create Radiance at Home and in the Workplace”, the event brought together women leaders and professionals from across the country to celebrate empowerment, leadership, and innovation.
Among the distinguished speakers was Dr. Bhavani Rao, Dean of the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences and UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.
In her address, Dr. Rao introduced Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, highlighting its international rankings and reputation as a world-class institution driven by compassion-based research and innovation. She emphasized the university’s strong foundation of women’s leadership and its mission to alleviate both material and spiritual poverty through transformative initiatives.
Dr. Rao showcased several of Amrita’s impactful community projects—including toilet building initiatives, seaweed cultivation for livelihoods, Sameekshanam, Saukhyam reusable sanitary pads, and programs promoting women in science. She also introduced the UNESCO W4EAI (Women for Ethical AI) South Asia Chapter, launched earlier in 2025 at Amrita, as a pioneering platform advancing ethical and inclusive technology.
Her message underscored the central role of women in leadership, social transformation, and community empowerment. By highlighting women’s capacity to innovate with compassion, Dr. Rao reaffirmed the conference’s vision of radiance both in the workplace and at home.
