At the 20th FICCI Higher Education Summit, themed “Higher Education in a Transforming World: Bridging Borders, Building Futures”, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham highlighted its unique approach to education that combines skill, compassion, and sustainable development.
Dr. Bhavani Rao R, UNESCO Chair and Dean of the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, spoke on the panel “The Role of Higher Education in Promoting Sustainability”, emphasizing how the university’s programs are guided by Amma, the Chancellor’s vision. She showcased how students engage directly with rural communities, co-designing technology and social interventions, and gaining hands-on experience that fosters empathy, responsibility, and meaningful innovation.
Dr. Bhavani Rao further stressed that in today’s rapidly evolving world, higher education must nurture curiosity, compassion, and social awareness, equipping students not just to earn a living but to create sustainable, positive change. Amrita’s participation underscored the university’s commitment to preparing globally conscious graduates capable of addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges.
