“Equations of Inspiration: Commemorating the 138th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan” a unique academic programme was launched by the Department of Mathematics , Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai campus, which was held on 22nd December 2025 at the AI Lab.
The 138th Birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was commemorated by the Department of Mathematics, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai campus. A unique academic programme was launched titled “Equations of Inspiration: Commemorating the 138th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan”, which was held on 22nd December 2025 at the AI Lab.
Dr. M. Subramani, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram, shared light on “From Ramanujan to Modern Cryptography: Timeless Mathematics in Secure Computing” during the celebrations.
The talk bridged Ramanujan’s pioneering contribution to number theory with contemporary application in cryptography and secure computing. He went into greater depth on sophisticated mathematical ideas like primality test algorithms as well as Fermat’s Little Theorem, Carmichael Numbers and their generalizations (to algebraic number fields) and how abstract areas of mathematics are the basis for the foundations of current digital security systems.
The session was able to bring out the relevance of pure mathematics in real-world technological applications. And through practical samples and explanation, the students understood and appreciated the impact of Ramanujan’s work on modern computational sciences.
The programme motivated the students and faculties from the B.Tech Artificial Intelligence Engineering to interact with the speaker raising thoughtful questions and discussions, encouraging students to explore advanced mathematical thinking and research-oriented approaches.
The event honored Srinivasa Ramanuja’s timeless legacy, simultaneously planting motivation in the young learners of the nation in understanding the power of mathematics in building modern technological innovations.
