Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham participated in the 100th Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Annual General Body Meet & National Conference of Vice Chancellors’ 2026 held at Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, from 28 to 30 April 2026. The theme of the event was “Shaping Self-Reliant Bharat through Knowledge and Innovation”. 300+ vice-chancellors and academic leaders attended the conference, which was inaugurated by Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, in the presence of AIU President Dr. Vinay Kumar Pathak, and Secretary General Dr. Pankaj Mittal.
The conclave was truly historic, with wide-ranging deliberations on various aspects of higher education in India. The stakeholder interaction session on the VBSA bill enabled all academic leaders to escalate their opinions to AIU, which shall be escalated to the JPC before the bill’s passage in parliament. The various sessions on internationalisation, healthcare, sustainability & social responsibility, AI & Quantum, startup ecosystem, and Swadeshi were nicely curated, resulting in knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices amongst the university leaders. The conference also provided excellent avenues for networking and collaboration. AMRITA was represented at the 100th AIU AGM by Dr. Bipin Nair, Registrar, and Dr. Prashant R. Nair, Associate Director-IQAC, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
