Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham hosted a high-level delegation from the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) and the Consulate General of France, reaffirming the University’s growing engagement with French institutions and exploring opportunities to strengthen collaborative research, academic mobility, and international partnerships. The delegation comprised Prof. Nitin Seth, Director, IFCPAR/CEFIPRA; Dr. Hugues Boiteau, Scientific and Academic Attaché for South India, Consulate General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai; and Dr. Kajal Madaan, Scientific and Academic Cooperation Officer, Consulate General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai.
During their visit to Amrita’s Amritapuri campus, the delegation met with the University’s Deans and faculty members to discuss ongoing research collaborations, translational research, and avenues for expanding Indo-French academic cooperation. Amrita faculty shared insights into the University’s multidisciplinary research initiatives, international collaborations, and research strengths across diverse domains. The discussions also focused on opportunities to promote collaborative research and enhance academic mobility between India and France. Prof. Seth, Dr. Boiteau, and Dr. Madaan presented various programmes that support Indo-French scientific collaboration and academic exchange, while receiving updates on Amrita’s joint projects and partnerships with leading French universities. The delegation also toured several of Amrita’s research centres and laboratories to gain first-hand insights into the University’s research ecosystem and innovation capabilities.
France continues to be an important international partner for Amrita. During 2025 and 2026, the University renewed several long-standing agreements and established new Memoranda of Understanding with leading French universities, further expanding opportunities for collaborative research and academic engagement. These partnerships have facilitated student internships, faculty exchanges, joint degree programmes, and master’s and doctoral collaborations, while welcoming students from institutions across France, including Paris and Grenoble, to Amrita’s campuses. Amrita’s international collaborations, including student and faculty mobility, exchange programmes, dual-degree initiatives, internships, and global academic partnerships, are coordinated through the Amrita Center for International Programs (ACIP).
The visit further strengthens the longstanding academic relationship between Amrita and French institutions, paving the way for deeper collaboration in research, innovation, and higher education while fostering greater opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty from both countries.
