Bio

Dr. Soumya S. is an accomplished researcher and educator in the field of Optoelectronics, with a particular focus on nanotechnology, thin films, and nondestructive evaluation. She holds a Ph. D. in Optoelectronics from the University of Kerala, where she specialized in the development of nondestructive evaluation methods for the morphological and thermal characterization of nanostructured thin films. Under the guidance of Dr. S. Sankararaman, her research contributed to advancing the understanding of nanomaterials and their applications.

Prior to her doctoral studies, Dr. Soumya S. completed an M.Phil. in Photonics at the University of Kerala, where she investigated the synthesis and characterization of bimetallic Au-Ag nanostructures using pulsed laser ablation. Her work, guided by Dr. K. G. Gopchandran, demonstrated her expertise in manipulating nanoscale materials for various applications.

Dr. Soumya S’s educational journey also includes a B.Ed. in Physical Science from Mar Thoma Teachers Training College, as well as an M.Sc. in Physics and a B. Sc. in Physics from Catholicate College, both affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University. Her master’s thesis, supervised by Dr. Sudheer S. K. at the University of Kerala, focused on investigating various parameters of High Bit-Rate Free Space Optical (FSO) Communication Systems.

With a strong foundation in research and academic pursuits, Dr. Soumya S. has expanded her expertise into teaching. She has served as an Assistant Professor of Physics (Guest) at St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta, imparting knowledge and guiding students in their academic journeys.

Dr. Soumya’s extensive research experience in nanotechnology, thin films, and nondestructive evaluation, combined with her passion for teaching, makes her a valuable asset to the academic community. Her contributions to the field and dedication to education continue to inspire and shape the next generation of scientists and researchers.
