Bio

Dr. Moumita Gangopadhyay received her Ph.D. in 2017 from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. During her Ph.D., she worked in the field of organic photochemistry under the supervision of Prof. N D Pradeep Singh. Her thesis was titled “Target Specific Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for Mono and Bimodal Anticancer Treatment”. She has also worked with Dr. Cornelia Bohne, Professor, University of Victoria, Canada. Later, she joined Ghatal Rabindra Satabarsiki Mahavidyalaya (a government-aided college) in Paschim Midnapore, West Bengal, as an Assistant Professor (Levels 10 and 11, Full Time) in June 2017. There she got the opportunity to initiate her teaching career. After working there for five successful years, she joined the Department of Chemistry, School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in September 2022. To date, she has published 14 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter; she has also attended more than 12 national and international conferences. She was also a recipient of SERB International Research Experience award from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. Of India in 2022. Her present research interest is focused on the development of new fluorescent probes for in situ generation of oxygen, efficient gas therapy, and PDT in hypoxic tumor cells with live cell imaging.
