Mr. Shashi Arvind Kumar, a student of the 2018 batch of MBA-MS programme at Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru, participated in the technical session of the International Conference on Climate Finance (ICCF) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 27-28, 2018. The poster presentation of his paper was titled, “Impact of Environmental Disclosure, Clean Development Mechanism and CSR on Stock Price: A Study based on Business Responsibility Report of Indian Companies”.
The paper presented by Mr. Shashi Arvind Kumar threw light on the how factors like environmental disclosure, clean development mechanism and CSR influence the stock price of Indian companies. He emphasized the importance of private sector and public sector working in tandem in the field of climate adaption and mitigation. He co-authored this paper along with Prof. Amalendu Jyotishi of Amrita School of Business, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru and Mr. Sajiv Madhavan, Head Business Excellence, Tata Elxsi.
He received critical accolades from Mr. Zia U. Ahmed, Chairman of VIPB Asset Management Company Limited Bangladesh and Dr. Saleemul Huq, Director of International Centre for Climate Change and Development.
The conference was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Center for Advanced Studies, BRAC University and the International Center for Climate Change and Development (ICCCCAD). Delegates from 14 countries including UK, India, Italy, Ivory Coast, Nepal and Thailand participated in the conference. The conference was conducted under the theme of ‘Climate Finance Transparency Mechanism (CFTM)’. The researchers associated with the conference said that if the money from the government budget that was given to counter the risk of climate change could have been obtained from the promised money in the developed world, then the government budget money could have been given to the education and health sectors of the country.
