Amrita Observes World Car Free Day 2012

It seems that reducing pollution could be easily achieved by the college youngsters in a more precise way. The students of Amrita sanjeevani, created another hallmark in the history of Amrita by observing car free day on 22nd September 2012.

Just like the last year there was a bycycle rally from karunagapaplly to the college involving many students and staff who took part in this event. There was a gathering all the students and staff who were about to take part in the rally in karunagapally. There were a few chief guests involved in inaugurating the function. Namely Mr.Anzar, Alapuzha district MLA Dr.Thomas Isaac and Mrs.Radhamani.

There was an inaugural function in the presence of all these three chief guests and the cycle rally headed by the campus director, college dean, principal of school of engineering, and other important dignitaries started around 8:30am from Karunagapally towards our college.

On the way the rally of about 200-250 students not only enjoyed the 3km cycle ride but also served as a role model for the anti pollution acts and showed the people out there the drastic means to reduce pollution.

If every day of the year was a car free day then this earth could be greener. Literally speaking why should this car rally be in Amrita alone, why not every college in the kollam district, every college in kerala, every school and college in India??
