Amrita Photography Club, Coimbatore Campus, in association with Nikon School of Learning, a division of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., conducted a DSLR Film Making Workshop on the 22nd and 23rd September, 2017 at the Sudhamani Hall in the campus. The aim of the workshop was to familiarize students with different settings available on a DSLR camera to shoot a film.
The first day of the workshop was focused on technical details and theory behind the working of a DSLR camera. Mr. Sathyanarayanan, Technical Head of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., South India, conducted the workshop with great enthusiasm answering students and giving them tips and tricks on the same. He was accompanied by Mr. Senthamil Selvan, Marketing Manager, Mr. Senthil Kumar, Team Leader and Mr. Shankar Ganesh, Representative from Savithri Photohouse. The afternoon session of first day was spent in discussion of stories and ideas for a two minute film presented by students. Three best stories were selected and the students were divided into groups to shoot the video.
The second day was a practical session, which included students handling cameras, tripods, sliders, acting, directing and all the other essential elements in taking a film. The clips taken by the students were put together and made into a video sequence. The best short film, directed by M. S. Bhavadarshini, 2nd year BA, Department of Communication, has been selected to be uploaded on the Nikon School of Learning Website.
