Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, Holds Annual Alumni Meet 2017

The annual get-together of alumni at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, was held on the campus on 18-19 February, 2017. More than 90 alumni attended the event.

The Chief Guests Dr. B. Muthukumaran, Practice Head- Big Data, HTC Global Services; and Mr. Venkat Alagarsamy, Vice President/ Head – Technology (IT) at HTC Global Services Inc. — inaugurated the meet. The duo presented brief sessions on topics ‘Convergence Analytics’ and ‘Disruptive Technology and You’ at the event. In the sessions, they provided valuable insights on Big Data, the buzzword of the era.

“By combining Big Data with emerging technologies like internet-of-things, and subscribing to the social media platforms, the modern world is going to see new trends in the way services are delivered, even before they are requested. I have no doubt that Big Data and Analytics will have a considerable impact on every industry,” Mr. Alagarsamy said.

Dr. R. Raghu Raman, Chairman, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, welcomed the alumni. “ASB is proud of its association with our 1800+ alumni. They play an active role in the campus through various activities such as placement boot camps and student mentoring. Through this meet, we express our gratitude to them. Also, the students get to inspire from the great works their alumni are doing in the industry,” Dr. Raman said.

On the second day of the event, Ms. Saranya Damodaran, Manager – Student Mentoring and Alumni Coordination, launched the ASB alumni web portal. ASB organized several events as a part of the meet. In the football and cricket matches between the alumni and the students, the former emerged as the winners. ASB also conducted a campus tour for the alumni, unwrapping the memories of their golden days on the campus. Events such as quiz, cultural programs, fun games, etc., made the meet more meaningful.
