Chancellor Amma Meets US Congress People

Chancellor Amma meets US Congress people at the Capitol Building. Amma met the Congress members on the invitation of Congress women Lucille Roybal-Allard (California) and Betty McCollum (Minnesota), said a statement from Mata Amritanandamayi Math vice-chairman Swami Amritaswarupananda. Among the Congress members who met Amma were House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (Maryland) and civil-rights leader and 2011 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom John Lewis (Georgia).

Others members who visited Amma include Henry Waxman, Grace Napolitano, Mike Honda, Janice Hahn, Mark Takano, Jackie Speier, Barbara Lee, Ami Bera (all from California), Ruben Hinojosa (Texas) and Jan Schakowsky (Illinois).

The statement said that Amma had elaborate conversations with each Congressional delegate, who inquired about the humanitarian activities of Amma. Also present were more than 50 Congressional staffers, who had discussions with her.

She met the Congress members after darshan programmes in Alexandria on Monday and Tuesday.

It was the 27th visit of Amma to the US capital.
