Graduation Day 2018 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus

The graduation ceremony of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, was held on the campus on September 19, 2018. Three hundred and six undergraduate and postgraduate students received their degrees at the ceremony. Prof. Uday Maitra, Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; K. Jyothi, CEO, Jilla Panchayath, Mysuru, and Swami Pranjanamritananda Puri, a senior Sanyasi disciple of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), were present at the event.

Vidya C. Pai, Principal, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, welcomed the gathering. The benedictory address was given by Swami Pranjanamritananda Puri. Swami Pranjanamritananda Puri said, “The key to success in life is how to think properly in life. Therefore, one should know how to stop thinking and be in complete silence before starting a work which awakens one’s creativity.” He added, “Life is a long experience. If we take experience, it has two elements, one is the experiencer and the other is the experience. If you want to know about yourself and lead your life to the fullest, then you should live in present. And one could live in the present, only when his/her mind is in complete silence.”

Sri. K. Jyothi, CEO, Jilla Panchayath, Mysuru, was the guest of honor. Prof. Uday Maitra, Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, the chief guest of the event, in his graduation day address, spoke about Swami Vivekananda’s thought on education which says “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man,” He added, “There is no chance for welfare of the world unless the condition of woman is improved. It is very important to ask questions and the quest to answer a question is where the learning takes place.” He spoke to the graduates, “To implement an idea, you need to be a good observer and good problem solver who should work hard in a team with your eyes open.”

Swami Pranjanamritananda Puri administered the convocation oath to the graduates. Prof. Uday Maitra and Swami Pranjanamritananda Puri presented the award of degrees, and medals of honour to the rank holders and medal winners of undergraduate and postgraduate holders of the campus. After receiving the certificates and medals, the medal winners and rank holders assembled on the stage for a photograph with the dignitaries.
