About

The School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SSBS) is dedicated to advancing research for societal good, firmly grounded in compassion as its core guiding principle. The school focuses on identifying and addressing social disparities in physical and mental health, environmental health, and community development, while also evaluating interventions and policies related to gender-based violence, child rights, and child protection. Each initiative reflects our commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of individuals, communities, and the environment.

Inspired by our Chancellor’s Five Education Goals, SSBS is a pioneering institution offering diverse academic programs and doctoral research opportunities across its campuses in Amritapuri, Coimbatore, and Faridabad. The school proudly hosts India’s only UNESCO Chair for Gender Equality, supported by several leading research centres that drive innovation and implementation-driven, high-impact research.

The School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SSBS) seeks to fulfill the noble mission to drive research for societal good with compassion as the firm foundation. Participatory

The real experts of any community, and the true measure of empowerment, are the community members themselves. Projects at the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences are co-created with the target population from design, to implementation, to impact evaluation, and beyond.

Community Centric

Empowering an individual without considering the social, political, and economic structures in which the person lives greatly reduces the sustainability of any project. Our projects make a concerted effort to create strong social groups among men and women encouraging them to address the larger structures that may keep them marginalized.

Value Based

All projects and research approaches are designed with compassion and encourage a community to reach higher goals. The life skills courses and vocational skills provided are selected to support personal growth and healthy, community development.

The Department of Social Science is actively involved in providing evidence-based, quality oriented social work education through most advanced and emerging domains of practice
