Aarohan, the Annual Amrita science fest is an initiative of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, to foster a bond between an institution of higher education and schools. Amrita has successfully hosted Aarohan for ten consecutive years and the eleventh edition is scheduled on 17th and 18th January, 2025.
Aarohan 11th Edition features 6 competitions, 3 workshops, 3 fun events & a project exhibition in junior category and 4 competitions, 3 workshops and 2 fun events in senior category. Each event has been planned in such a way that the students enjoy it thoroughly as they learn something new from it.
The winners are awarded certificates and cash prizes worth 1 lakhs and the school with highest number of event victories will be crowned the overall champions. With 20 events on the board, there is a lot to be won.
The students will be divided into two categories based on their age group. Students studying in Class 8,9 and 10 will come under junior category and those in Class 11 and 12 will come under the senior category. There will be separate events for both the categories.
There is no registration fee for Aarohan. All the schools that wish to attend the fest can click on the below button to register for the event. On registering a link will be mailed to the respective schools using which, details about the attending students and faculty will be collected. Based on the provided information, kits for the students will be prepared which can be collected on the day of the fest.
Competitions
Mathletics – Mathletics is a multi-round mathematics quiz to test strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. Teams of 2-3 students compete across three exciting rounds: an eliminator focusing on math problems, a topic-based challenge covering Algebra, Geometry, or Probability, and a fast-paced buzzer round. Only the sharpest minds will emerge as champions in this battle of numbers.
Olympiad – The Olympiad is an exciting competition designed to test participants’ problem-solving abilities, creativity, and scientific reasoning through a series of hands-on experiments, conceptual challenges, and innovative tasks. Teams will tackle practical problems, ranging from reflective challenges using mirrors and light to brainstorming technical project ideas on intriguing topics. The event fosters critical thinking, teamwork, and the application of knowledge in both theoretical and practical contexts, offering a dynamic platform for participants to showcase their skills and compete for top honors.
Scratch Code Challenge – An interactive event targeted for students in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade, where the excitement of programming is explored through Scratch. A simple but powerful coding platform. Practical hands-on activities that solve real-world problems teach the very basics of coding. Participants are then set loose to create their own Scratch project as they try to solve a problem statement after having a guided session. The first to present functional solutions will be rewarded with prizes. A challenge that will engage creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.
Can you escape? – An exciting team-based activity brings together brainpower and adventure in three exciting rounds. Teams first solve quiz challenges to unlock clues, tackle logic-based puzzles in the “Puzzle Portal” to gather code pieces, and finally, enter a “Game Grid” to complete fun, gaming-inspired tasks. Combining problem-solving, strategy, and teamwork, this event is an exhilarating journey to freedom.
Brainwave – The session sparks innovation, encouraging participants to brainstorm ideas for science and technology projects. In a dynamic environment, teams pick topics and discuss for a limited time before presenting a concise pitch. Participants are judged on the feasibility and creativity of their ideas, fostering a space for collaborative problem-solving.
Puzzle Pursuit – The innovative activity having participants go through a 3D maze modeled to present challenges at every turn. Players will have dice rolls to encounter various problems related to science or common sense, which must be solved to advance. The event would combine fun with problem-solving, and participants get an exciting way to apply what they know. The winners shall receive prizes.
Workshops
Indian Knowledge Systems- The workshop explores the intersection of ancient Indian knowledge and modern technology. Participants will learn about surprising scientific advancements referenced in ancient texts, temples, and traditions. Engaging activities highlight the relevance of historical practices, bridging the gap between tradition and innovation.
Drones – The students will learn how to assemble and operate drones. Participants will construct their own mini drones and practice flying them in a controlled environment. The workshop provides an exciting introduction to drone technology and encourages hands-on learning, requiring no prior experience.
Internet of Things – The workshop offers a practical introduction to the IoT projects. The participant will gain hands-on soldering experience and other related skills. The student develops not only technical skills but also acquires a better understanding of the IoT applications through self-built functional IoT devices.
Fun Events
Treasure Hunt – An engaging and interactive game where students can actively participate in solving clues and completing challenges to unearth hidden treasures. The activity fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and quick thinking as participants navigate through a series of tasks. It’s a fun-filled adventure that encourages collaboration and strategic planning while keeping the spirit of competition alive.
Quilling Corner – The art of quilling will be taught, students will roll, shape, and design colorful paper strips to make unique creations such as flowers and animals. The activity that can evoke creativity and patience in an individual, making it more enjoyable and therapeutic for its participants.
Mystic Games – A multi-game event revolves around themes from Indian mythology. Edge of Arrows is an archery game requiring precision to hit targets associated with negative characters, avoiding positive ones. Mythic Sorting challenges players to sort characters into their respective mythological categories. A fun yet educational exploration of cultural stories.
Project Exhibition
The Project Exhibition provides a platform for students to showcase their innovative projects related to science and technology. Participants will present their ideas, prototypes, or models, demonstrating creativity and technical expertise. A panel of judges will evaluate the projects based on originality, practicality, and presentation. The exhibition encourages young minds to push the boundaries of innovation, with winners being recognized for their exceptional contributions to the field of technology.
Competitions
Mind Over Machine – The tech quiz that challenges the students to their expertise in computer science, coding, emerging technologies, and problem-solving. The high-stakes contest involves three-member teams who answer a set of challenging questions. It creates an environment of cooperation where students have to rely on logical thinking and technological prowess to win.
Ideathon – The event where the teams portray themselves as budding entrepreneurs, design innovative products, tackle real-world challenges, and defend their ideas in front of judges. The three rounds include Inventopreneur, Shark Tank, and Crisis Management. Participants take on roles like CEO or finance manager, present creative solutions, convince investors, and address crises effectively. The event is a combination of business acumen with creative thinking.

They will be divided into teams of 4 or 5 and will address a simulated issue where a communication system is damaged in space. Teams will decode static signals, identify the right instruments, and restore connectivity to Earth. This activity combines critical thinking with collaboration and technical skills.

Data Science Bootcamp – An interactive 3-hour session introduces students to the world of Python programming and essential data science libraries like Pandas and Matplotlib. Participants will analyze real-world datasets and solve challenges through a Kaggle-style competition.
