SIEMENS- GAPIO Innovation Award in Medicine for India's First Hand Transplant

On 28th December 2018, Dr. Subramania Iyer, Chairman and Professor, Plastic Surgery and Head & Neck Surgery, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was awarded the prestigious SIEMENS- GAPIO (Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) Innovation Award in Medicine for performing ‘Hand Transplant Surgery’ for the first time in India.

Training Workshop on ‘Fertility Intentions and Contraceptive Practices’

A workshop on ‘Fertility Intentions and Contraceptive Practices’ training was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), the Centre of Excellence and Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of India at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Meppady, Wayanad district, between October 2nd and 3rd, 2018. 

Reconstructive Surgeons Honoured by National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization

On November 27th, 2018, a team of reconstructive surgeons from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, was honored by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) at the 9th Indian Organ Donation Day held at New Delhi, for their path-breaking achievement of conducting a ‘Hand Transplant’. 

Fellow of European Board of Nuclear Medicine (FEBNM) Awarded

Dr. Smita Kulkarni, Assistant Professor, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, was awarded the prestigious degree of Fellow of European Board of Nuclear Medicine (FEBNM), after successfully clearing the European Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Examination held in October 2018 in Dusseldorf, Germany under the evaluation of European Union of Medical Specialists / European Board of Nuclear Medicine(UEMS/EBNM). 

Amrita Faculty Invited as Guest Speaker at the 9th NTD NGO Network Annual Conference

Dr. K. N. Panicker, Professor Emeritus, Department of Community Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Chair of Indian Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases visited Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from September 24- 26, 2018, on an invitation from NTD NGO Network to participate in the 9th NTD NGO Network (NNN) Annual Conference.
