Bio

Dr. Maya L. Pai currently serves as Assistant Professor (SG) at the Department of Computer Science and IT, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi. She is a member of the Board of Studies for Computer Science and IT and BCA and MCA programs. She has produced two Ph.D’.s and guides four Ph.D. candidates at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the area of ocean studies and health care .She has also guided 8 M.Phil students and 11 PG students.

Dr. Maya L Pai received her Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).  She has done her Masters in Mathematics with distinction from Cochin University in 1983. She did her B.Ed in Mathematics with a first class from Calicut University in 1993 and qualified State Eligibility Test (SET) exam in 2002. She has completed M. Phil. Degree in 2006 from Bharathiar University. She has 37 years of experience in teaching and 12 years in research.

She has more than thirty-five years of experience in teaching and six years of administration. Her post-Ph.D. teaching experience is seven and a half years. She headed the Department of Mathematics in the capacity of Chairperson, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Ranked 5 in India by NIRF), Kochi Campus from June 2015 to June 2017 and thereafter as the Head of the Department of Computer Science and IT till July 2020. She works as an Assistant Professor (SG) at Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, focusing on teaching and research.

Her teaching assignments started even before Ph.D.She had covered topics from undergraduate, Postgraduate,,M.Phil and Ph.D course work like, Discrete Mathematics, Statistics and Probability, Automata , Operations Research, Soft Computing, Fuzzy sets and its Applications, Mathematical Foundations for Computer Applications, Mathematics for Cryptography, Linear Algebra and Research Methodo,logy etc. Her research focuses predominantly on Data Mining, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning

A flair for adopting the latest technologies enabled her to establish a new vertical in the Department of Computer Science and IT when she was the chairperson of the Department. She is a member of the Board of Studies and the Syllabus Technical Review Committee for BCA and MCA Programs, for Faculty of Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi Campus.
